Here at XPO, we take our people seriously. We’re looking for a talented Transport Planner to join us on a full-time, permanent basis on our Ibstock contract in Nottingham. Working a typical Monday to Friday, core working hours, you’ll support the planning activities, allocation of routes, and cost-effective sub-contracting for the site, ensuring our deliveries get out the door in a timely, safe and compliant manner.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £34,000. We offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks.

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

  • Representing the Transport Operation in the daily Ops calls
  • Updating the Ibstock CS team in an accurate and timely manner ensuring that all information relating to ‘at risk’ or ‘failed’ loads is shared.
  • Maintaining updates to the ‘at risk’ loads and sharing information with the appointed Account Executive as and when available.
  • The liaison points between the Account Executive within Ibstock CS and the XPO Transport Team – becoming a single point of contact for any transport queries.
  • Ensure all XPO company processes and procedures are followed as requested or trained.
  • Ensure general administration, e.g. invoicing, filing, queries, claims etc is handled as per request by line manager in accordance with company requirements and to deadlines
  • Respond to all emails in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Foster, maintain and improve relationships with colleagues throughout XPO and with other Ibstock factories.
  • To undertake any relevant training events in line with own personal development needs and business requirements raising training needs and requirements to Local Manager
  • To undertake any other reasonable task as required as directed by Transport manager/Line manager.
  • Maintain professionalism when dealing with internal and external customers as per XPO policies and procedures.
  • Complete the HACA process in a timely manner to Ibstock and enter the Quality Event on the WTS System.
  • Check Planning inbox and action accordingly.
  • Support Planning function where necessary.
  • Ensure all sub-contractor costs are entered into WTS
  • Identify distance work/ backhaul opportunities, ensuring the backhaul tracker is updated.
  • Ensure all collections are planned and updated on the planning sheet.
  • Ensure all sub-contractors are planned and updated with the loads they are doing.
  • Ensure all failed orders are re-dated and re-planned asap and communicated in a timely manner to Ibstock.
  • Pro-actively plan any urgent orders and communicate to Ibstock with the delivery date.
  • Pro-actively pull loads forward to ensure maximum use of the plan and make best use out of core fleet.
  • Ensure all driver’s achieve a minimum of 1.5 loads per day.
  • Ensure Ibstock are notified of any date changes/ failed orders & the reason why.
  • Ensure all core fleet is allocated, ensuring all fleet is utilised effectively.
  • Support in other areas as requested by your line manager

  • A good understanding of fast-paced transport teams
  • Excellent communication skills – you’ll be speaking regularly with various stakeholders
  • Good understanding of Microsoft packages including Excel and Outlook
  • Have a proactive zero tolerance approach to all safety related issues
