Role Description
As a Transport Planner, you will support the Operations team by proactively managing the daily route planning of our transport fleet, ensuring maximum utilisation. You'll be responsible for coordinating and optimising the movement of plant equipment to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and safe transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the planning, routing, and logistics of Low Loaders and Sprayers to optimise efficiency.
- Proactively manage and address any necessary changes based on demand.
- Ensure the transport plan is effectively communicated to all relevant parties.
- Schedule and coordinate daily store runs to refuel equipment at Toppesfield sites.
- Work with external transport suppliers to secure adequate coverage at the best possible rates.
- Plan HGV movements in accordance with legal drivers hours and maintenance schedules.
- Identify operational challenges, potential risks, and opportunities to enhance transport efficiency.
- Maintain the haulage register for all externally sourced transport services.
- Handle phone and email inquiries promptly and efficiently
- Continuously seek improvements to enhance transport operations.
- Update internal systems with fleet and plant records.
- Prepare reports related to transportation planning.
- Provide general administrative support for the Transport department.
- Participate in the ‘Out of Hours’ rota, which requires being on call from 18:00-23:00 on a rota basis

Ideal Candidates
- Excellent Microsoft Office computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail)
- Good organisational skills. Able to plan, prioritise and meet tight deadlines, and the ability to deal with pressure in a professional manner
- Continuous Improvement - Identify and create new and innovative ways of doing business and drive improvements.
- A diligent, conscientious, analytical approach
- Able to act on initiative, identify opportunities & proactive in putting forward ideas & solutions
- High standard of administration skills
- Plans and organises systematically yet flexibly to achieve objectives
