Transport Planner - Development Planning & Transport Consultancy
Location: London / Surrey
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 DOE
Type: Full-Time | Permanent
I'm working with an established and growing transport planning and infrastructure consultancy that is looking to add an experienced Transport Planner to its team.
The consultancy works with developers, architects, and local authorities across a broad range of projects, providing transport planning and highways advice from early feasibility and site promotion through to planning, detailed design, and construction.
The role would suit a Transport Planner looking to build on their consultancy experience and work on a varied portfolio of residential, commercial, retail, leisure, education, healthcare, industrial, and mixed-use developments.
The Role
You'll be involved in delivering transport planning projects across the development lifecycle, working closely with clients, local authorities, and wider project teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing Transport Assessments and Transport Statements
- Preparing Travel Plans and other transport-related management plans
- Undertaking transport and highway feasibility studies
- Assessing the transport implications of proposed developments
- Supporting planning applications and development proposals
- Undertaking traffic and junction capacity assessments
- Using industry-standard modelling and analysis tools including TRICS, Junctions, ARCADY, PICADY, LinSig, and TEMPRO
- Supporting access, junction, and highway design proposals
- Undertaking parking assessments and reviews
- Providing advice on sustainable transport and active travel
- Supporting the development of transport strategies for larger development and masterplanning projects
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, highways officers, and other consultants
- Contributing to project meetings and helping to develop practical solutions to transport and planning issues

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with experience within a transport planning consultancy, ideally with a background in development planning.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience preparing Transport Assessments / Statements
- Experience with Travel Plans
- Good understanding of the UK planning and development process
- Experience assessing development-related transport impacts
- Familiarity with TRICS and junction modelling software
- Good report-writing and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with clients and stakeholders
- The ability to manage your own workload and meet project deadlines
- A relevant degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Planning, or a related discipline
We're open to candidates from Transport Planner through to Senior Transport Planner level, depending on experience.
