About the Company
Our client is a well-established specialist logistics operation serving the industrial and manufacturing sectors. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their team in West Bromwich.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist fleet operation where you'll play a key role in coordinating a mix of company vehicles and third-party hauliers, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of products across the UK.
The Role
Reporting to the Bulk Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating daily transport activities, ensuring customer requirements are met while maximising vehicle utilisation and maintaining high service levels.
Working within a specialist transport environment, you will liaise closely with drivers, customers, warehouses, and external haulage providers to ensure deliveries are completed safely, compliantly, and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily transport movements across a specialist fleet operation.
- Manage and support a network of third-party hauliers to meet customer demand.
- Monitor vehicle utilisation and route efficiency to maximise operational performance.
- Ensure all transport activities comply with legal, safety, and company requirements.
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, drivers, and haulage partners.
- Proactively manage transport issues, delays, and customer queries.
- Maintain accurate transport records and reporting.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to drive service and cost efficiencies.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure seamless delivery of customer requirements.

About You
- Previous experience within a Transport Planner, Logistics Planner, Transport Coordinator, or similar role.
- Experience planning both own fleet and subcontracted haulage movements.
- Strong geographical knowledge of UK transport networks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of transport compliance and driver regulations would be advantageous.
- Experience within industrial gases, chemicals, hazardous goods, manufacturing, or specialist logistics environments would be highly desirable.
