Transport Warehouse Operations Supervisor Level 3 (Transport Route) Apprenticeship
The Transport Warehouse Operations Supervisor Level 3 (Transport Route) apprenticeship develops skilled transport managers to lead safe, efficient and compliant operations. Including the Transport Manager CPC, it builds expertise in transport legislation, team leadership, operational performance, risk management and customer service.
Wage: £25,000 a year
Training course: Transport and warehouse operations supervisor (level 3)
Hours: Monday - Friday. Exact shifts TBC 40 hours a week

What you'll do at work
Working alongside experienced Transport Planners and the wider transport team, you will learn how to help manage the day-to-day operation of a busy transport department.
Your responsibilities will develop as your knowledge and confidence grow and will include:
- Assisting with the daily planning and scheduling of vehicle movements
- Helping to plan and allocate deliveries and collections
- Communicating with drivers throughout the working day
- Speaking with customers regarding deliveries and collections
- Responding to customer enquiries by telephone and email
- Monitoring vehicle movements and delivery progress
- Learning how to respond to delays, changes and problems that occur during the day
- Updating our Transport Management System with accurate information
- Processing transport paperwork and maintaining accurate records
- Working closely with warehouse and office teams to coordinate daily operations
- Providing drivers with the information and paperwork required for their journeys
- Helping to ensure customer requirements and delivery times are achieved
- Developing an understanding of transport legislation, drivers' hours and compliance requirements
- Learning how a commercial transport operation is managed safely and efficiently
- Completing the required apprenticeship training and coursework
- Working towards a Transport Manager CPC qualification as part of your longer-term development
Transport is a fast-moving environment and plans can change throughout the day. You will learn how to prioritise work, solve problems and communicate effectively with drivers, customers and colleagues.
As your experience develops, we want you to take on greater responsibility and become increasingly involved in planning and managing transport operations independently.
This is an opportunity to learn whilst doing the job, gaining practical experience alongside recognised qualifications and building the foundations for a long-term career in transport and logistics.
As part of your development, we will also support you in working towards your Transport Manager CPC qualification, giving you the opportunity to gain a recognised professional qualification and progress your career within the transport industry.

What you'll learn
Course contents
Allocate and monitor work and set objectives including continual professional development (CPD), for transport/ warehouse team members. Identify skill and knowledge gaps in own performance and team performance in relation to transport/ warehouse operations Complete performance development reviews (PDR)/ staff appraisals for transport/ warehouse team members Plan training to meet the requirements of the business and the team members including where required, Driver Certificate of Professional Competence and Material/Mechanical Handling Equipment requirements Achieve KPI’s and targets set for the transport/ warehouse team and individuals within the transport/ warehouse team Carry out disciplinary and manage grievances as per organisational guidelines Lead team and departmental communications and meetings Carry out risk assessments appropriate to work environment in accordance with the Health and Safety Executive use IT equipment and systems for the role such as telematics or warehouse management systems plan and review warehouse compliance and efficiencies; labour, placement, schedules, resources to inform improvements, including inbound and outbound goods ensure the security of the transport, warehouse and goods in line with organisational policies communicate with internal and external customers using various communication methods identify and propose innovative business improvements schedule journeys: planning route, timings, costs and resources. Calculating driver hours/ use of tacho graphs and selecting the appropriate vehicle and ancillary equipment for the load being moved Oversee and review fuel costs and deal with issues when they occur Ensure the vehicle is safe and legally loaded and vehicle is marked and labelled compliantly in line with regulations regarding the carriage of dangerous goods Ensure vehicle, driver and load documentation is available for the journey and meets legal requirements Plan, organise and evaluate vehicle and warehouse maintenance schedules for compliance with the DVSA ‘Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness’ or other Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP) Supervise loading to ensure correct procedures are used Review and measure the performance of warehouse operations to inform improvements to safe operating processes and systems; i.e. picking, stowing, dispatch lead and review the process for returned, damaged goods, customer bespoke and direct orders Allocate and monitor work and set objectives including continual professional development (CPD), for transport/ warehouse team members. Training schedule
Transport and Warehouse Operations Supervisor Level 3.
The apprenticeship includes regular training with an award-winning training provider TRS Training. You will attend monthly online sessions, and you'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff whilst completing your 13-month, Level 3 apprenticeship.
More training information
TRS Training will provide monthly online sessions. Your apprenticeship will be completed by units that you need to submit throughout your employment and should take around 13-months to complete.
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade C or 4 and above)
- Mathematics (grade C or 4 and above)
