Transport Planner Required!

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: £36,000

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 - 6:30 (Saturday 1 in 4, remote, up to 2 hours)

Our client is an established UK transport and logistics company, operating a busy pallet distribution and haulage operation across the country.

On behalf of our client, we are looking to recruit an organised and experienced Transport Planner to join their transport team. This is a varied role covering transport planning, driver and warehouse support, customer bookings and general administration, with the successful candidate playing an important part in the day-to-day running of the operation.

Package

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am-6:30pm, including a 1-hour unpaid lunch
  • £36,000 per annum
  • Saturday working from home on a 1-in-4 rota
  • Saturday duties generally involve checking a small number of deliveries, can take only up to 2 hours

Transport Planner - Responsibilities:

  • Assist with route planning and daily transport scheduling across multiple pallet networks
  • Plan vehicles and transport movements for Isle of Wight deliveries, including movements involving ADR goods
  • Coordinate with drivers and the warehouse to resolve day-to-day queries
  • Book in customer deliveries and collections
  • Monitor transport movements and assist with resolving any issues or delays
  • Manage a shared and busy operational email inbox
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and deal with transport-related queries
  • Complete general administration and operational duties for the pallet network operations
  • Support the wider transport team with the efficient running of the daily operation
  • Carry out Saturday delivery checks as part of the 1-in-4 home-working rota

Transport Planner - Requirements

  • Previous experience within a transport planning, transport operations or logistics role
  • Experience of route planning and coordinating transport movements
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability and good common sense
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
  • Confident communication skills, both by telephone and email
  • Comfortable managing a busy workload and changing priorities
  • Good IT and administration skills

Previous Pallet Network Experience Would Be Essential

Knowledge or experience of ADR transport would be advantageous
