Transport Planner
Location: Bristol
Salary: A 6-Month FTC based on a salary of £29,741 per annum.
Contract: Six-month fixed-term contract, with potential to remain with the business based on performance.
Irlam Associates are recruiting a Junior Transport Planner on behalf of an established transport and logistics business at its Bristol depot.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in transport planning, coordination or administration who wants to develop their career within a busy transport operation. You will support the planning of collections and deliveries, helping ensure vehicles and drivers are used efficiently while maintaining high standards of customer service.

- Plan and coordinate collection and delivery schedules for a mixed fleet of vehicles.
- Allocate drivers, vehicles and trailers to meet customer requirements.
- Identify backload opportunities to maximise vehicle utilisation.
- Use transport management systems and customer portals to maintain accurate plans and bookings.
- Communicate with drivers, customers and colleagues, providing updates on schedules and operational delays.
- Work with the workshop to factor vehicle servicing and availability into transport plans.
- Ensure routes account for drivers’ permitted driving and duty hours.
- Support customer bookings, quotations and clear handovers within the transport team.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in transport planning, coordination or transport administration.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise changing workloads.
- Clear communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Good IT skills, with experience using a transport management system beneficial.
- An understanding of drivers’ hours and transport compliance.
- A practical approach to solving problems and working as part of a team.
