Working within a fast-paced distribution environment, you will liaise closely with drivers, warehouse teams, customer service colleagues, and other internal departments to ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and optimise delivery routes using PTV Logistics (DPS).
- Allocate deliveries and loads efficiently across the HGV fleet to maximise vehicle utilisation and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate the delivery of furniture products to customers, distribution centres, and retail locations throughout the UK.
- Ensure vehicles are loaded to maximum capacity whilst maintaining safe loading practices for large and high-value furniture products.
- Monitor daily transport operations and respond promptly to delays, route changes, and operational issues.
- Work closely with Production, Warehouse, Customer Services, and Distribution teams to coordinate finished goods availability and delivery schedules.
- Liaise with drivers regarding routes, schedules, delivery instructions, and operational requirements.
- Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders regarding delivery schedules, capacity constraints, delivery issues, and customer requirements.
- Ensure deliveries are completed on time and in full whilst maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Maintain accurate transport records and planning data.
- Assist with vehicle maintenance scheduling and ensure vehicle availability is considered when planning routes.
- Ensure transport operations comply with Drivers' Hours Regulations, the Working Time Directive, Operator Licence obligations, and company procedures.
- Monitor transport performance and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Support the continuous improvement of transport planning processes and fleet performance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
