Transport Procurement Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Transport Procurement Manager based in the United Kingdom.

This role offers the opportunity to optimize transport procurement operations within a growing digital logistics environment.

You will connect transport partners with customer needs, ensuring efficient solutions, competitive pricing, and reliable service delivery.

The position combines supplier management, negotiation, logistics expertise, and data-driven process improvement. You will play a key role in expanding carrier networks and improving how transportation solutions are sourced and delivered.

Working in a remote-first culture, you will have the autonomy to make decisions and contribute to building scalable logistics processes. This opportunity is ideal for a proactive professional who enjoys fast-paced environments, collaboration, and operational ownership.

Accountabilities

The Transport Procurement Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing transport sourcing activities
  • Strengthening partner relationships
  • Ensuring customers receive efficient and competitive logistics solutions
  • Handling transport requests by gathering requirements, clarifying details, and identifying suitable transportation solutions
  • Sourcing transport capacity from carrier partners, requesting quotations, negotiating pricing, and selecting the best options based on vehicle type, route, lead time, and service requirements
  • Providing fast and reliable responses to customer needs by following structured processes and maintaining strong communication
  • Calculating pricing, evaluating margins, and preparing competitive transport offers for customers
  • Maintaining accurate records of requests, prices, and orders within internal systems to ensure high-quality data management
  • Monitoring carrier performance, providing feedback, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the transport partner network
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with logistics providers and external partners
  • Identifying recurring challenges and collaborating with the team to develop standardized processes and operational improvements
  • Supporting the optimization and automation of procurement workflows through digital tools and AI-enabled solutions
  • Contributing to the growth and efficiency of transportation operations through proactive decision-making and ownership

Requirements

The ideal candidate has experience in transport logistics, procurement, or freight operations and combines strong organizational skills with commercial awareness and excellent communication abilities.

  • Initial experience in freight forwarding, logistics coordination, transport procurement, dispatching, or a similar role
  • Ability to manage multiple requests efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong negotiation skills and confidence in communicating with suppliers and customers
  • Good understanding of pricing, margins, and basic commercial calculations
  • Comfortable working with digital tools such as CRM systems, spreadsheets, transportation management systems, and automation platforms
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new technologies and software solutions
  • Fluent German communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Good English skills; additional languages are considered an advantage
  • Reliable, proactive, and solution-oriented working style with strong ownership of responsibilities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote and fast-growing environment
