Transport Scheduler

W Talent is currently recruiting for an experienced and highly organised Transport Scheduler to join a busy logistics operation in Wakefield.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with transport planning or scheduling experience who thrives in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.

You will be responsible for creating efficient, compliant and customer-focused transport plans while maximising fleet and resource utilisation and ensuring operational requirements are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Transport and Warehouse teams to create efficient transport plans using the latest TMS.
  • Assemble 400+ consolidated orders into loads within each 24-hour period.
  • Plan and subcontract orders across multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites throughout the UK.
  • Plan the daily workload for the fleet, including vehicles based on-site and at outbases.
  • Plan approximately 100 time-critical collections per day.
  • Monitor, report and resolve operational issues and queries.
  • Maintain and exceed agreed KPIs and service levels.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Make effective decisions under pressure and within tight timescales.
  • Adapt to changing operational requirements, particularly during peak periods.
  • Ensure transport plans remain compliant with relevant legal and operational requirements.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer service and operational performance.

About You

  • Previous experience within transport planning, scheduling or logistics.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience using a TMS or transport planning system.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • The confidence to make decisions under pressure.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities.
  • A strong understanding of fleet utilisation and transport operations.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement.
