About the Role

We're looking for a driven and experienced Transport Shift Manager to join our Transport operation in Warrington. This is an exciting opportunity for a transport professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for operational excellence.

You'll play a key role in ensuring our transport operation runs safely, efficiently and compliantly, while leading and developing high-performing teams that deliver great service for our customers.

What's the Role?

Reporting to the Transport Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the performance of a busy transport shift operation, ensuring the effective management of Transport Supervisors and Drivers. You'll drive operational performance, support peak planning activities and ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance and customer service are maintained.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading and developing a team of Transport Supervisors and Drivers to deliver strong operational performance.
  • Managing shift activities to ensure efficient dispatch, driver debriefs and service delivery.
  • Monitoring operational KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing action plans.
  • Supporting transport planning activities to ensure resources align with forecasted volumes.
  • Driving a culture of safety, compliance and operational excellence across the shift.
  • Conducting regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and team meetings to support colleague development.
  • Producing shift reports and using operational data to influence decision making and performance improvements.
  • Supporting the Transport Operations Manager and providing leadership cover when required.

What We're Looking For

Essential experience and skills

  • Previous experience within a transport, logistics or distribution environment.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing operational teams.
  • Strong understanding of transport operations, compliance and industry best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive performance and decision making.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with transport management systems and operational reporting tools.

  • CPC National Qualification.
  • Good Maths and English skills, both written and verbal.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience using systems such as Isotrak, TMS and Tachomaster.
