About the Role
GXO is currently seeking a talented and driven individual for the role of Transport Supervisor, to work on the afternoon shift at our WH Smith site in Marston Gate, Bedford. You’ll play a key role in supporting our transport operation, ensuring customer satisfaction and procedural conformance.
This is a full-time, permanent position operating on an "any 5 from 7" shift pattern, from 13:00 to 22:30.

Key Responsibilities
On a typical day, your responsibilities will include:
- Delegating tasks to the transport operations team and drivers, ensuring reports and tasks are completed on time
- Completing all radial routes, verifying:
- Correct stock loaded
- Proper vehicle and driver allocation
- PDA issuance
- Completion of all relevant paperwork and collection notes
- Maintaining a safe working environment in compliance with company policy and health & safety regulations, including timely investigation of accidents
- Ensuring routine vehicle maintenance is booked and completed in line with GXO’s schedules
- Managing tachograph compliance to meet GXO’s earned recognition standards
Essential Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must have:
- Demonstrable experience in a similar Transport Supervisor position
- Experience supervising teams and a deep operational understanding of transport logistics
- Knowledge of:
- Driver working time regulations
- Tacho (tachograph) regulations
- Fleet compliance
- Strong ability to manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to adapt and support departmental needs as required
