Job Overview

About The Role

Our Transport Supervisors are at the heart of keeping our operation moving.

As our Transport Supervisor you’ll take ownership of the daytime trunking operation, making sure everything runs safely, smoothly and in line with transport legislation.

Working closely with our transport, warehouse and management teams, you’ll keep everyone informed, lead team discussions and find practical solutions to operational challenges.

  • Salary: £30,891.84 per annum
  • Hours: 4 on 4 off shift pattern 6am- 6pm / 40.25 hours per week
  • Job Type: Full time and permanent contract
  • Location: Weston Road, Crewe, CW1 6BF

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing

  • Taking a full handover from the night shift and managing outstanding issues, including breakdowns, late arrivals and delays, through to completion.
  • Delivering the operational plan, ensuring planned runs, routes and backhauls are completed.
  • Communicating operational changes, risks and delays to the appropriate teams.
  • Meeting with backhaul teams to review expected arrivals and escalating concerns to warehouse leadership.
  • Providing daily oversight of the trunking operation and supporting colleagues with operational issues and escalations.
  • Managing unit availability, maximising fleet utilisation and working with Fleet Administration to monitor vehicles off road.
  • Supporting people processes, including holiday planning, evaluations, return-to-work meetings, absence management and documented discussions.

A Few Things About You

  • A strong understanding of trunking operations, transport planning, driver allocation and backhaul coordination.
  • Experience managing shift handovers and resolving ongoing operational issues.
  • Good knowledge of tachograph legislation, driver-hours requirements, downloads and infringement management.
  • Experience investigating missing mileage, driver hours and other operational irregularities.
  • Confidence completing incident reports and supporting vehicle and driver compliance.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate actions across transport, warehouse and management teams.
  • Previous people-management experience.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
