Contract: Permanent

Shift: Mon-Fri - 21:00-06:00

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Supervisor to join our Network Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised leader who is passionate about operational excellence, people development, and delivering outstanding customer service.

About The Role

As a Transport Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting the Transport Management team and leading a team of drivers to deliver a safe, compliant, and high-performing operation. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of transport activities, ensuring service, quality, productivity, compliance, and cost targets are consistently achieved.

This role is ideal for a driven people manager who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and enjoys motivating teams to achieve exceptional results.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading and motivating a team of drivers to deliver operational excellence.
  • Ensuring transport operations meet service, quality, productivity, and cost performance targets.
  • Managing resources effectively to meet operational requirements.
  • Monitoring and improving operational performance through KPI management.
  • Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, tachograph regulations, security requirements, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Conducting regular coaching sessions, performance reviews, and development conversations with team members.
  • Supporting employee engagement initiatives and creating a positive, high-performing team culture.
  • Monitoring operational costs, including overtime, subcontracting, fleet maintenance, and supplier expenditure.
  • Providing leadership support and operational cover for the Transport Operations Manager when required.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the transport function.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Good analytical and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and operational systems.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of UK transport operations and logistics environments.
  • Understanding of driver hours and Working Time Directive legislation.
  • Knowledge of CPC and Tachograph regulations.
  • Experience with transport planning software such as Paragon or similar.
  • Knowledge of transport planning and telematics systems.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science.
