Uniserve are seeking a Transport Supervisor (Discount Retail Stores) to oversee the day-to-day transport operation on behalf of Uniserve at a customer site in Warrington.

The role supports a 24-hour, 7-day operation, managing transport activities, driver compliance, service delivery, incident management, and customer interaction. The Transport Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring all transport operations are conducted safely, legally, and in accordance with company policies and customer requirements whilst providing operational support to a fleet of up to 20 vehicles.

Location: Customer Site, Warrington WA5

Hours: 4 on 4 off, Days, 12-hour shifts

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management

  • Supervise the daily transport operation during shift, ensuring service delivery targets are achieved
  • Manage transport activities for up to 20 vehicles operating across a nationwide retail distribution network
  • Monitor vehicle movements and respond to operational challenges affecting service delivery
  • Liaise with drivers, customer representatives, planners, and management teams to ensure operational continuity
  • Support route execution and delivery performance across a 24/7 operation
  • Maintain accurate operational records and reports

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across the operation
  • Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety policies and site safety procedures
  • Investigate and record accidents, incidents, near misses, and damage events
  • Escalate safety concerns and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Conduct safety briefings and support toolbox talks where required
  • Monitor driver compliance with legal and company requirements

Incident & Accident Management

  • Log, investigate and report vehicle accidents, personal injuries, customer incidents, and damage events
  • Complete accurate documentation following operational incidents
  • Liaise with management and relevant departments to ensure incidents are appropriately reported and closed out
  • Support root cause analysis and implementation of preventative measures

Customer Service

  • Maintain strong working relationships with customer site teams
  • Provide a professional point of contact for transport-related enquiries
  • Assist in resolving service issues and operational challenges quickly and effectively
  • Ensure customer expectations are met whilst protecting Uniserve's operational and commercial interests

Administration

  • Complete daily operational reporting requirements
  • Maintain transport records, compliance documentation, and shift handovers
  • Support KPI reporting and service performance reviews
  • Ensure all paperwork and electronic records are completed accurately and on time

Skills/Experience:

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience within a transport, logistics, or distribution operation
  • Strong understanding of transport legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience supervising drivers and transport operations
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within a transport environment
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make effective operational decisions
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office and transport management systems
  • Flexible approach to working within a 24/7 operational environment

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working within a retail distribution environment
  • Accident and incident investigation experience
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent Health & Safety qualification
