The Role
Are you an experienced supervisor with a passion for delivering high-quality services and leading teams to success? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking for a Transport Supervisor to support the delivery of an efficient, safe and reliable transport service across Scotland's largest NHS organisation. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in ensuring essential goods, equipment and services reach the right place at the right time, directly supporting patient care. Working within our Estates and Facilities Directorate, you will lead and support a dedicated team, manage daily operations and help drive continuous improvement. The successful candidate must have a full UK Driving License.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Location: Inverclyde Royal Hospital
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 18:00 as required
- Shifts: Generally 7.2-hour days but you may be asked to stay later to cover due to annual leave/sickness
- On-call Rota: Involvement in the on-call rota would be required
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day delivery of transport schedules ensuring services are completed efficiently and safely
- Deploy and coordinate drivers and resources to maintain service continuity and meet operational demands
- Manage staff rotas, annual leave and staffing levels to ensure effective service provision
- Monitor compliance with transport legislation, policies and procedures and ensure accurate record keeping
- Respond to operational issues including breakdowns, urgent requests and service disruptions using initiative and sound judgement
- Support recruitment, training and development activities to maintain a skilled and knowledgeable workforce
- Oversee fleet management activities including vehicle servicing, defect reporting and maintenance scheduling

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required
- Qualified and legally entitled to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes
- Knowledge of transport legislation, regulations and operational compliance requirements
- Previous supervisory and management experience within a transport or logistics environment
- Understanding of vehicle defect reporting systems and fleet management processes
- Knowledge of Operator Licence requirements and transport industry best practice
- Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise workloads
- Sound knowledge of the Highway Code and experience coordinating staff and resources in a busy operational setting
