Job Description
Shift: 4 on 4 off Nights, 18:00-6:00
Salary: up to £32,600
Are you looking for your next step in Transport? Stobart have an exciting opportunity within their retail sector for a Transport Team Manager to oversee the night operation at Bridgwater for a major customer.
You will direct, coordinate and + plan activities for the operation whilst complying with legal responsibilities and meeting customer demand at all times. We are looking for someone to motivate and drive the team forward; this is the perfect opening for someone looking for a step into management.
This is a fantastic opportunity to grow with Stobart within a thriving sector, providing exposure to a large operation within the Stobart network
Main Responsibilities & Objectives:
- To support the management of a fleet of drivers and transport staff ensuring that they work within both legal and company compliance guidelines.
- To provide a store network with a first class service
- To ensure operational targets are met on a weekly and monthly basis through effective use of the customers Integrated Transport Management Systems
- To brief / de brief drivers at the start and end of every shift communicating planned requirements providing information on performance, company news and procedures.
- Proactively encourage a positive and constructive relationship on site with the union and union representatives.
- Increase communication with stores
- Ensure department complies with Road Traffic Act
- Ensure drivers comply with health and safety regulations
- Proactively motivate the transport team by providing guidance and encouragement
- Undertake such duties as may be reasonably required for the effective operation of the function and department

Qualifications
What kind of person are we looking for?
- Experience of working within a transport/FMCG environment.
- Knowledge of transport legislation.
- Knowledge of driver management softwares
- Experience of supervising / managing a team, encouraging motivation and driving performance.
- Experience of disciplinary / grievance procedures.
- Able to manage conflict and problem solve
- Ability to work on your own initiative, working to strict deadlines and customer focused
- The depot operates 24/7 therefore it is essential that you are flexible in your approach to work.
