Overview
A full time position (4 on 4 off, alternating day shift and night shift)
06:00am – 18:00pm & 18:00pm – 06:00am
Based at our Coventry Depot.
Role Summary
The Transport Team Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations within our transport department, ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective delivery of temperature controlled goods to our customer, Starbucks. This role involves managing a team of drivers and coordinators, managing transport schedules, maintaining compliance with legal and safety standards, and optimising routes and resources to meet business objectives.
HGV knowledge and transport managerial experience required.
Main Responsibilities
- Fleet/HGV management on a wide range of vehicles.
- Keeping expenses under control and overseeing operational needs.
- Ensuring the operation is fully compliant with all legislative regulations including the operator licence, drivers’ hours, tachograph infringements and working time.
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of temperature-controlled goods (fresh, ambient and frozen) in alignment with established business processes and quality standards.
- Conduct productive, on-time performance reviews; and manage any challenging conversations with drivers.
- Managing HR processes and conducting any disciplinaries, grievance or absence reviews.
- Investigating all vehicle accidents and incidents in line with FSL procedure and policy.

Skills and Experience
- Proven experience with multi-drop deliveries/planning, ideally in a temperature controlled environment.
- A strong people manager and communicator.
- Significant experience in a managerial position within Transport or Logistics.
- A good understanding of reporting and recording performance statistics.
- Proficient use of transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Embracing being part of a wider team and being a team player.
- Prioritise health and safety of the team and site.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
