Transport Team Manager
Plymouth Area | £42,000-£44,000 DOE + Benefits Package | 10:00am-7:30pm | Weekends on rota | Full-Time
Introduction
Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for an experienced Transport Team Manager to oversee a busy transport operation in the Plymouth area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a transport professional who enjoys balancing operational responsibility with people leadership. You'll take ownership of day-to-day transport activities, helping to drive performance whilst maintaining high standards of compliance, safety and customer service.
The successful candidate will be a visible leader who can motivate teams, build strong working relationships and create an environment where people can perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a transport team to deliver operational and service objectives.
- Create a positive working culture focused on teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Manage employee performance, attendance, recruitment and ongoing development activities.
- Ensure transport operations remain compliant with all relevant legislation, regulations and company procedures.
- Oversee fleet-related resources, equipment and operational assets to support efficient service delivery.
- Allocate workloads effectively while considering operational priorities, legal requirements and available resources.
- Monitor safety standards and promote best practice across all transport activities.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions where required.
Requirements
- Previous experience managing teams within a transport, logistics or distribution environment.
- Strong understanding of transport legislation, compliance requirements and operational best practice.
- Proven ability to motivate and develop teams, recognise success and deliver results within a busy operational setting.
- Experience managing service performance through KPIs and operational metrics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organisation.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong people leadership skills with the ability to inspire and engage others.
- Commitment to delivering a safe, compliant and customer-focused operation.
- Passion for transport operations and team development.

Desirable Experience
- CPC qualification or relevant transport management certification.
- Experience managing commercial fleet operations.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance planning and fleet compliance processes.
- Experience leading change, process improvement or operational efficiency initiatives.
- Previous responsibility for transport-related assets and equipment.
