Are you an experienced Transport leader who thrives in fast-paced operations and has a passion for delivering exceptional service, driving compliance, and leading high-performing teams?

Do you have the leadership skills to inspire night colleagues (drivers and transport), optimise fleet performance, and ensure every delivery is completed safely, on time, and in full? Join us as our Transport Team Manager on our Night shift.

Join us at GXO at our Sainsbury's site in Waltham Abbey as a Transport Team Manager (Nights), where you'll inspire driver and admin teams, keep deliveries moving safely and on time, and play a key role in driving operational performance. Working a 4 on, 4 off night shift pattern, you'll help create a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement while ensuring we deliver exceptional service to our customer every day.

This is a full time, permanent opportunity with 40 hours per week contracted. Working 4 on 4 off 18:00 to 06:00.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £18.28 per hour, and 264 hours annual leave. Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts!

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Lead the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring deliveries run safely, efficiently, and on schedule while supporting Shift Managers during peak periods
  • Drive compliance and operational excellence, managing audits, transport legislation, tachograph records, security requirements, and key administrative processes
  • Collaborate across departments and external partners to minimise delays, maximise fleet availability, and maintain exceptional service levels
  • Monitor performance and reporting, communicating operational updates, analysing data, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Develop and motivate high-performing driver and admin teams through coaching, recruitment, succession planning, absence management, performance reviews, and incident investigations

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Strong transport operations knowledge, including driver compliance, Working Time Directive, and transport regulations
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritise workloads and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, confident engaging with drivers, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels
  • Technically proficient, with solid Microsoft Office skills and experience using transport or distribution management systems
  • A proactive and resilient leader, committed to safety, compliance, continuous improvement, and delivering results through high-performing teams
