At Focus Birmingham, our transport service plays a vital role in helping people access the services and support they need.
We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Transport Manager to lead our transport operation, ensuring our services are safe, reliable, efficient and ready to grow alongside the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in transport, logistics or fleet management who enjoys improving services, leading teams and finding practical solutions.
What you’ll be doing
As Transport Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and development of our transport service, including:
🚐 Overseeing route planning, vehicle utilisation and staffing
👥 Leading and supporting our Transport Coordinator and team of Drivers
📋 Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, licensing and safety requirements
🔧 Overseeing vehicle maintenance, inspections and documentation
📊 Monitoring costs, vehicle usage, route efficiency and service performance
📈 Developing transport capacity to support the growth of our services
🤝 Working with colleagues, families and external partners to make sure transport meets the needs of the people we support
🌍 Exploring community transport opportunities to maximise the use of our fleet and generate additional income
💡 Driving continuous improvements in safety, efficiency and service quality

What we’re looking for
You’ll need:
✅ Experience within transport, logistics or fleet management
✅ Knowledge of relevant transport compliance and legislation
✅ An understanding of D1 licence requirements and driver compliance
✅ Experience managing staff and operational services
✅ Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills
✅ Confidence managing risk and making decisions under pressure
✅ Experience of community or accessible transport, working with people with disabilities, or holding relevant transport qualifications would be an advantage
