About The Restorative
The Restorative is a research-informed wellness platform for women healing from burnout, psychological and emotional abuse, and the conditions that have quietly undermined their health. Founded by Dr. Cherise Vanderpool, MBBS, MSc — a Barbadian physician and independent researcher — The Restorative operates at the intersection of integrative health strategy, peer community, and healing environments.
At the centre of our model is The Restorative Navigation Service — a structured, multidisciplinary approach to helping women understand which combination of specialist support their specific situation requires, and in what sequence. Our navigator works with a curated global network of independent specialist contractors across five tiers of holistic health need, mapped to Maslow’s Hierarchy and the WHO Social Determinants of Health.
What this role is
This is an independent contractor arrangement, not an employment position. You retain full clinical and professional responsibility for any clients you take on. You operate under your own independent practice, registration, and insurance at all times.
As a specialist in The Restorative Network you would:
- Be listed in The Restorative Specialist Directory
- Receive referrals from our navigation service for clients whose assessment indicates your specialism is relevant
- Provide brief advisory input on whether a referred client’s anonymised summary is within your scope
- Carry full responsibility for clients you accept under your own independent practice
- Be invited to contribute to The Restorative Podcast

Universal requirements — all roles
- Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience in your specialism
- Current professional registration, accreditation, or certification with the relevant body in your jurisdiction
- Current professional indemnity and liability insurance appropriate to your practice
- Demonstrated track record of working with women navigating burnout, trauma, psychological abuse, or the downstream consequences of coercive control
- Root-cause, whole-person orientation — you work to understand what is driving the presenting problem, not just manage the symptoms
- Availability to accept referrals — online or in-person — on an ongoing basis
- Clear, plain-language communication — you can explain what you do and who benefits without jargon
- Willingness to give an honest no when a referral is not within your scope

We particularly welcome applications from practitioners with cultural competency for Caribbean, African, South Asian, or diaspora communities — regions where specialist support is most underserved and where The Restorative has a particular mission focus.
Role-specific requirements
The ideal candidate works specifically with women navigating complex trauma, narcissistic abuse, coercive control, and complex PTSD, and approaches recovery through a root-cause framework that addresses what happened rather than simply managing the symptoms that resulted.
- Doctoral level qualification: PhD, PsyD, DClinPsy, or equivalent
- Full registration with APA, BPS, AHPRA, or equivalent professional body in your jurisdiction
- Specific trained competency in at least one evidence-based trauma modality: EMDR, IFS, CPT, TFCBT, or somatic approaches
- Demonstrated specialism in complex PTSD, narcissistic abuse recovery, and coercive control
- Experience working with high-achieving women whose trauma presentation is masked by functional performance
- Telehealth capability — online sessions are essential for global reach
- Supervision credentials or peer consultation practice preferred
