Job Specification

Trauma Support Coordinator

£32,061 to £33,699 per annum + benefits (pay award pending)

Please note: The Service is currently undertaking a job evaluation review across all corporate roles and as a result, the grade and salary associated with this post may be subject to change following completion of the process.


About The Role

We are seeking to fill an upcoming vacancy for the role of Trauma Support Coordinator.

Reporting directly to the Occupational Health Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Service's wellbeing and trauma support programmes. You will coordinate and deliver Trauma Support, Mental Health First Aid and health promotion sessions across the Service. You will support and mentor members of the Trauma Support Team while helping to coordinate trauma support activities and training delivery. The role also involves analysing feedback and evaluation data, maintaining wellbeing information and supporting the day-to-day activities of the Occupational Health Unit.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the TWFRS Values of Safety, Integrity, Inclusivity and Learning, and champion these in their day-to-day work. They will also demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behaviours and champion these in their day-to-day work in compliance with our ethical code of conduct.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters are located in purpose built premises based in Washington, within easy reach of the A1 and A19. On site facilities include a staff gym, ample free parking and canteen facilities.


As a Trauma Support Coordinator You Will

  • Present and deliver Trauma Support training courses, Mental health first aid training and Health promotion sessions.
  • Become a Mental Health First Aid Trainer and work towards, or already hold, a Train the Trainer Adult Mental Health First Aider qualification.
  • Provide mentoring to Trainee Trauma Support Team members during the initial stages of session co-delivery.

We are seeking a candidate who has demonstrable experience of:

  • Qualified in Trauma Support or willing to work towards such a qualification.
  • Adult Mental Health First Aid qualified and working towards a Train the Trainer Adult Mental Health qualification to facilitate sessions on-site and off-site where required.
  • Working within an Occupational Health unit or trauma support environment and undertaking administrative work.
  • Delivering presentations and training.
