Are you commercially minded, great with people and passionate about Australia or New Zealand?
TravelEssence is looking for a Travel Specialist to join our growing UK team. You’ll use your first-hand destination knowledge to understand what each customer is looking for, create completely tailor-made holidays and confidently guide them from their first conversation through to booking.
This is a consultative sales role built around strong relationships, thoughtful advice and destination expertise. You won’t be selling off-the-shelf packages. Instead, you’ll take the time to understand how each customer wants to travel and recommend the routes, stays and experiences that suit them best.
What you'll be doing
- Hold consultations by phone, online and face-to-face to understand each customer’s interests, travel style, priorities and budget.
- Use your destination and product knowledge to create tailor-made itineraries.
- Recommend routes, accommodation and experiences, and clearly explain your recommendations.
- Present proposals with confidence and proactively follow up opportunities through to booking.
- Build strong customer relationships throughout the sales process.
- Give presentations and represent TravelEssence at customer events.
- Manage your own enquiries and opportunities while keeping our CRM up to date.
- Continue developing your knowledge of Australia, New Zealand and our product portfolio.
- Work closely with colleagues in the UK and across our international teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for
First-hand knowledge of Australia and/or New Zealand is essential. You should have travelled or lived in one or both destinations and be able to talk naturally and enthusiastically about your own experiences.
You’ll also need:
- Strong experience in customer-facing, relationship-building or sales roles.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.

- A proactive, independent approach and confidence following up opportunities.
- The ability to understand individual customer needs and turn them into personalised recommendations.
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
- The legal right to work in the UK.
Travel industry experience is welcome, but it isn’t essential. We’re equally interested in candidates from sales, hospitality and other customer-facing backgrounds who bring strong commercial awareness and genuine destination knowledge.
How and where you'll work
This is a full-time, remote-based role in the UK, with plenty of flexibility over where you work. Our London and Manchester offices are available whenever you’d like to use them, with no set number of office days.
Meeting customers face-to-face is still an important part of the role, so you’ll need to be able to travel to London and/or Manchester for appointments and occasional meetings. Travel expenses will be covered by TravelEssence.
