About The Role

Travel Trainer (Ealing)

Permanent, Full Time

£25,959 up to £28,621 per annum

Location: Ealing

Working Style: Anywhere worker

Essex County Council are recruiting for a Full Time Travel Trainer – Ealing.

Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Applicants must have a current, unrestricted right to work in the UK.

Travel Trainer

The Travel Trainer role focusses on achieving positive outcomes for young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities within the Ealing area, supporting them in becoming safe independent travellers and enabling them to live richer, more fulfilling lives. You will support young people and adults on a 1-2-1 basis to train them on how to access public transport on designated routes such as their home to school journey. Recent professional experience working with individuals with disabilities would be advantageous as well as a good knowledge of Ealing's public transport system.

Role responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver travel training to school age children and adults on a 1:1 basis
  • Visiting young people and adults in their homes
  • Develop bespoke training plans for each client, considering their additional needs and complexities of the route
  • Provide ongoing feedback to the trainee and referrer
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new organisations
  • Network with key individuals at schools and colleges across the borough
  • Attend events at local schools and colleges

What You Will Bring

  • Educated to ‘A’ level / NVQ level 3 within a relevant sector, plus 5 GCSE’s A-C (new GCSE 4-9) including English and Maths, or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Experience within an SEN or adult social care setting is essential, and you should be able to evidence your passion, energy, and enthusiasm for working within this sector.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Motivated to instil confidence in others whilst building strong rapport.
  • Highly organised, able to manage your workload efficiently, with good IT skills and ability to meet deadlines.
