Honorary Treasurer (Trustee) — Hammersley Homes (Voluntary)

ABOUT US

Hammersley Homes is a Hampshire-based charity, established in 2018, supporting adults who live with enduring mental health challenges and psychotic illnesses. We provide friendship, security and practical support — through our Outreach Programme today, working towards fully supported homes for life as our long-term goal. In 2025 our work was recognised with a Prestige Award of Excellence for Mental Health Support.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. The Treasurer provides independent, trustee-level oversight of the charity's finances, working alongside — and distinct from — our Finance Officer's day-to-day role. It is a rewarding opportunity to bring financial leadership to a small, ambitious charity at an important stage in its development, including oversight of a significant one-off legacy now being realised.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and present financial reports to the Board in a clear, accessible format
  • Advise the Board on how to carry out its financial responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation and scrutiny of the annual accounts
  • Oversee the financial aspects of significant one-off transactions and legacies, working with appropriate professional advisers
  • Oversee the level of external scrutiny appropriate to the charity — whether independent examination or statutory audit — and liaise with the examiner or auditor
  • Support the Board in maintaining sound internal financial controls and safeguarding the charity's assets
  • Work with our Finance Officer and, as required, external financial advisers

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
