Company Description

Action Village India is a small UK based charity that supports Indian partner organisations who work alongside villagers in some of the most remote parts of rural India so they can improve their lives, livelihoods and resilience. We work towards an India which is just, fair and inclusive, where all people regardless of sex, gender identity, ethnicity, caste, religion or belief, can benefit from the country’s economic development and lift themselves out of poverty. At the heart of our work, are our partnerships; many of which have spanned decades. Partner organisations are led by Indians and whether these are large or small organisations, all work directly at the grassroots level across rural India – from Bihar and Jharkhand in the North, in Odisha and Madhya Pradesh and down to Tamil Nadu in the South. The communities they work with are some of the poorest in India.

Role Description

You will be part of the Board of Trustees where you will contribute to the strategic direction of the charity and support our small team of staff. The Board meets four times a year, with 3 remote (evening meetings) and 1 in person (weekend) taking place, along with our AGM / Supporters Day, at our offices in Dalston, London.

As the Treasurer you will help us maintain and strengthen effective governance of the charity’s financial affairs, collaborating with staff and trustees to ensure that:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
