FCENS is a local homelessness charity working in the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

It's motivated by the Christian faith to respond to the plight of homelessness.

We are seeking a new Trustee to serve as Treasurer.

Please note that this is not a book-keeping role.

What difference will you make?

This is an opportunity to use your financial knowledge and experience to help shape the future of a grassroots homelessness charity. The next three years are an important period for FCENS. We are developing our services, strengthening our partnerships, expanding our peer support model and seeking the resources and resilience we need to build a sustainable future.

As Treasurer, you will help ensure that we have the financial foundations to deliver these ambitions. You will play a particularly important role in helping us maintain financially sustainable services; develop our night shelter, drop-in and move-on support; and secure stable and sustainable funding.

What are we looking for?

We are particularly looking for someone with knowledge and experience of financial management and an understanding of financial reporting, budgeting and financial controls.

We need someone with:

  • The ability to understand financial information and explain it clearly to other Trustees.
  • General knowledge of the operating environment of a charity.
  • Some understanding of charity governance and regulatory requirements, or a willingness to develop this knowledge.
  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • The confidence to challenge constructively and ask appropriate questions.
  • The ability to think flexibly and independently and contribute to strategic debate.
  • A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the role.
  • A compassionate, respectful and non-judgemental approach to people experiencing homelessness.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
