We are seeking a Treasurer to guide the financial health of FarmEco
Join our friendly board and use your financial skills to support our community farm's vital mission in local wellbeing, sustainable agriculture, and conservation. First-time trustees warmly welcomed!
What difference will you make?
Right now, much of our financial oversight is falling on the shoulders of our CEO. Because she is only employed two days a week, the time she spends managing our finances directly reduces the time she can spend on her core duties—like developing systems and projects, networking, fundraising and overseeing the team.
Having a dedicated Treasurer will be a huge relief for our small team. It will allow us to properly separate our financial duties, spread the workload, and ensure stronger overall governance. Most importantly, it will free up our CEO's limited time so she can focus on the operational work she was hired to do.
We know how vital it is to have someone with actual financial expertise on board. By stepping into this role, you will be a highly valued member of our team, providing the practical skills we are currently missing and directly helping the whole CBS run more effectively.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who has experience with budgets and financial plans. We use Sage accounting software, so knowledge of this would be an advantage. We are a Community Benefit Society, which is a rare breed of organisation so our treasurer will need to understand the regulations around this.
We would love to have a treasurer who is also interested in getting involved in what we do at the farm and discovers the passion that drives us all to make FarmEco such a special place. We welcome people from diverse backgrounds and value the different perspectives that different people bring to the team.

What will you be doing?
FarmEco is currently without a Treasurer, and we are looking for someone with financial skills to join our board and help us manage an important period of growth.
Our current trustees are very hands-on and passionate about what we do, but we really need a dedicated financial perspective on the team. We recently secured three years of National Lottery funding, which is giving us the stability to make some exciting changes. We are using this backing to build our services and provide help to more people in the community. We need a Treasurer to help us oversee this grant, ensuring our budget is well-managed and our spending stays on track as we expand.

Alongside the grant funding, the farm itself is growing. Our trees are maturing, and our harvests are getting bigger every year. This gives us a great opportunity to develop new, self-generated income streams. Whether that means selling surplus produce or creating new community enterprise services, we would value someone who can help us assess the financial viability of these ideas. Your input will be key in helping us become less reliant on grants and more financially sustainable in the long term.
As our Treasurer, you will help us set budgets, keep an eye on our cash flow, and present clear financial updates to the rest of the board. You will be an active part of our decision-making, helping us figure out the best way to use our resources.
We are a friendly, down-to-earth board. If you have the financial skills and want to use them to support a local community and environmental project, we would love to hear from you.
