NTGFA seeks Trustee with financial mgt/treasury experience

NTGFA seeks Trustee with financial mgt/treasury experience to guide the charity's financial sustainability and growth by providing strategic oversight and expert advice on budgeting, financial planning, governance & risk management, ensuring strong stewardship of charitable funds.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Charity finance
  • Accountancy or bookkeeping
  • Financial management
  • Financial planning and analysis
  • Audit and assurance
  • Risk management
  • Governance and compliance
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Treasury management

Experience within the heritage, cultural, environmental, educational or international development sectors would be particularly valuable, although not essential.

We are seeking someone who can bring:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Enthusiasm for heritage conservation and cultural exchange

What will you be doing?

As a Trustee of the National Trust Georgia Friends Abroad, you will share responsibility for the overall governance, strategic direction, financial sustainability and long-term success of NTGFA. Trustees work collectively to ensure that the charity delivers its charitable objectives, complies with charity law, safeguards its assets and reputation, and acts in the best interests of the organisation.

Alongside these general trustee responsibilities, you will provide specialist advice and leadership on financial management and governance, helping NTGFA maintain strong financial stewardship and planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act in accordance with the NTGFA Constitution and relevant charity law.
  • Contribute actively to Board discussions, decisions and strategic planning.
  • Ensure the charity's resources are applied in furtherance of its charitable objectives.
  • Help oversee risk management, finances, governance and organisational development.
  • Act as an ambassador for NTGFA and the National Trust of Georgia.
  • Support the Board in maintaining high standards of integrity, accountability and good governance.

As Treasurer Trustee

  • Advise the Board on financial strategy, budgeting and financial sustainability.
  • Support the preparation and review of budgets, management accounts and financial reports.
  • Help ensure appropriate financial controls, policies and procedures are in place.
  • Monitor the charity's financial performance and cash flow position.
  • Support the Board in understanding financial risks and opportunities.
  • Liaise with trustees, volunteers and professional advisers on financial matters where appropriate.
  • Help ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and charity regulations.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term financial planning and reserves management.
  • Support the effective stewardship of charitable funds and resources.

Time commitment

  • Approximately 3-6 hours per month
  • Attendance at quarterly Board meetings (predominantly held online)
