Part time opportunity to join this thriving charity, dedicated to supporting the development of young people. Keen to benefit from your financial planning skills and accountancy experience, join our team in the effective running of the Sutton Sea Cadets Unit.

Your expertise will enable us to operate efficiently, to maximise our income and ensure financial viability.

To achieve this, we must provide a safe environment, provision of equipment and a forward thinking strategy. The role of Treasurer is pivotal to all this being achieved.

Implementation of your skills to help us will benefit the development of many youngsters.

What are we looking for?

As well as the accounting skills and financial experience needed to be a Treasurer, our team will benefit from someone

  • Willing to contribute to our plans and future strategy, supporting our fundraising campaigns with financial support and advice.
  • Who is a team player able to work closely with the Unit Chair on such matters as financial policy & procedures.
  • Able to establish good working relationships with other team members, both civilian volunteers and the Commanding Officer (head of the uniformed staff).
  • Has access to a PC or laptop is a requirement of the role.

What will you be doing?

This is a hybrid, flexible part time role.

Underpinned by your financial expertise, you will advise and strengthen the group of Trustees to ensure sound, informed strategic planning leading to efficient management of this successful Sutton Sea Cadets Unit. Many of our adult volunteers remain with us for years and describe this as a rewarding experience.

Additionally a Trustee, the Unit Treasurer

  • Maintains financial control.
  • Produces and manages the Unit accounts.
  • Prepares annual budgets.
  • Supports financial input to our fundraising campaigns.
  • Provides financial advice to the (Unit Management Team) UMT.

This is mainly a home-based role with the UMT meeting once per month plus ad hoc meetings and activities as required.

Sutton Sea Cadets, based in Beddington Park, Wallington, is a youth organisation (registered charity) with the aim to give young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be in a safe and friendly environment. Through various activities and adventures, they learn teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, self-discipline, honesty and how to be the best version of themselves.
