What difference will you make?
This role will have a significant impact on the future of Pomphrey Hill Community Sports Association. As Treasurer Trustee, you will help ensure the charity remains financially sustainable, well-governed and able to continue supporting sport, health and community activities for local people.
- Your oversight and guidance will help the Board make informed decisions about the future of the organisation.
- Safeguard the charity's resources and support long-term planning and investment in our facilities and services.
As Pomphrey Hill continues to strengthen its governance, develop its operations and explore future opportunities, the Treasurer will play a key role in providing independent financial assurance and helping the Board balance ambition with financial sustainability.
Ultimately, your contribution will help ensure that Pomphrey Hill remains a thriving community hub for current and future generations.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, banking, financial management or a related field who can provide independent oversight of the charity's finances and support strong governance.

The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Understand financial reports, budgets and cashflow information.
- Ask constructive questions.
- Help the Board make informed decisions about the future of the organisation.
Previous experience as a Treasurer, Trustee, Finance Director, Accountant or similar role would be beneficial, but is not essential. We are particularly interested in individuals who can bring:
- Experience in financial management, accounting, banking or business finance.
- An understanding of financial controls, governance and risk management.
- The ability to analyse financial information and communicate it clearly to non-financial audiences.
- Good judgement, integrity and a willingness to provide independent challenge where appropriate.
- The confidence to work collaboratively with fellow Trustees, the Chair and the Operations Manager while maintaining independence in the role.
- An interest in supporting sport, health, wellbeing and community activity.
Previous charity experience is welcomed but not required. We would encourage applications from people looking to take on their first trustee position, provided they have relevant financial experience and a commitment to helping our community thrive.

What will you be doing?
Pomphrey Hill Community Sports Association is entering an exciting new chapter, with a strengthened governance structure, a growing operational team and ambitions to secure the long-term future of our community facilities.
We're looking for a Treasurer Trustee to join our Board and play a key role in overseeing the charity's financial sustainability and governance. The Treasurer will work closely with the Chair, fellow Trustees and the Operations Manager, providing independent financial oversight, approving payments, reviewing management accounts and helping to guide strategic decision-making.
As day-to-day financial administration is managed by our Operations Manager and external accountants support our year-end accounts, this role focuses on oversight, challenge and assurance rather than bookkeeping.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape the future direction of a well-established community organisation that supports the local community of Mangotsfield and Emersons Green. This is a particularly exciting time to join the Board as we continue to strengthen our finances, governance and long-term sustainability.
