Walkers Professional Services (WPS) is seeking an experienced and commercially-minded Treasurer to establish and lead the company's first Treasury function. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a hands-on leadership role responsible for designing, implementing, and managing all treasury activities across the business.
As the sole Treasury professional within WPS, the Treasurer will create the treasury framework, policies, controls, reporting, and processes required to support the company's growth, financial stability, and strategic objectives. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking and operational execution, with responsibility for cash management, liquidity planning, banking relationships, funding, financial risk management, and treasury governance.

Treasury Function Establishment
- Design and implement WPS's Treasury framework, operating model, policies, and governance structures.
- Establish treasury controls, procedures, and reporting mechanisms aligned to best practice.
- Develop treasury policies covering cash management, liquidity, banking, investments, and financial risk.
- Identify and implement appropriate treasury systems, tools, and processes.
- Build strong working relationships across Finance, Operations, Legal, Tax, and senior leadership teams.
Cash & Liquidity Management
- Develop and manage short, medium, and long-term cash flow forecasting processes.
- Monitor daily liquidity positions and ensure adequate funding is available to support business operations.
- Optimise working capital and cash utilisation across the organisation.
- Provide recommendations to enhance liquidity and improve cash visibility.
Banking & Funding
- Manage relationships with banking partners and financial institutions.
- Lead the opening, maintenance, and optimisation of bank accounts and banking structures.
- Support negotiation of banking facilities and financing arrangements.
- Evaluate and recommend funding solutions as required to support business growth.
Financial Risk Management
- Identify and assess treasury-related risks, including liquidity, counterparty, foreign exchange, and interest rate risks.
- Develop appropriate risk management strategies and controls.
- Monitor financial exposures and recommend mitigation activities where appropriate.
Reporting & Governance
- Produce treasury reports, dashboards, and management information for the CFO and senior leadership team.
- Present cash flow, liquidity, financing, and risk positions to key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, banking covenants, and regulatory requirements.
- Support annual audits and provide treasury-related information to auditors.
Strategic Support
- Partner with the CFO to support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, business transformations, and growth plans.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to support business decision-making.
- Contribute to broader finance transformation and process improvement initiatives.

Essential
- Significant treasury experience gained within a corporate treasury function or financial institution.
- Demonstrated experience establishing or transforming treasury processes and controls.
- Strong understanding of cash management, liquidity planning, banking, funding, and financial risk management.
- Experience developing treasury policies, governance frameworks, and reporting structures.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to operate independently and manage a broad workload with minimal supervision.
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
Desirable
- Treasury experience within a professional services, consulting, or people-based business.
- Experience implementing Treasury Management Systems (TMS) or treasury technology solutions.
- Exposure to international banking structures and multi-entity organisations.
- Professional Treasury qualification (AMCT/MCT) or equivalent.
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or relevant financial qualification.
