Role and Responsibilities
The Finance TL – Treasury is responsible for leading the day-to-day treasury operations supporting UK insurance businesses. The role oversees cash management, banking operations, liquidity, payments, investments, and financial controls while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal treasury policies. The Team Leader manages a team of treasury analysts and works closely with Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, Investments, Tax, and Risk functions to maintain efficient treasury operations.
Treasury Operations
- Lead daily treasury operations, including cash positioning, liquidity management, and bank account administration.
- Monitor cash inflows and outflows to ensure sufficient liquidity for insurance operations.
- Manage payment processing, including claims payments.
- Oversee bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding items.
- Support investment settlements and treasury-related accounting activities.
Cash & Liquidity Management
- Prepare daily and weekly cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor liquidity requirements across multiple legal entities.
- Optimize working capital and cash utilization.
- Support short-term investment and funding activities in line with treasury policies.

Banking & Financial Controls
- Maintain relationships with banking partners and financial institutions.
- Manage bank mandates, signatories, and online banking administration.
- Ensure compliance with payment authorization controls and segregation of duties.
- Monitor treasury controls and support internal and external audits.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and coach Treasury Analysts and Treasury Assistants.
- Allocate work, monitor performance, and conduct regular coaching sessions.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of treasury team members.
- Promote continuous learning and operational excellence.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with company treasury policies, UK regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Support compliance with FCA, PRA, IFRS, and corporate governance standards where applicable.
- Monitor treasury-related operational risks and implement mitigation measures.
- Ensure adherence to anti-fraud controls and payment security procedures.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Prepare treasury reports, liquidity dashboards, and management information (MI).
- Analyze cash flow trends and recommend process improvements.
- Participate in treasury system enhancements and automation initiatives.
- Support finance transformation projects and continuous improvement programs.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
- Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ACT (Association of Corporate Treasurers), or equivalent is preferred
- Treasury or cash management certifications are advantageous
Knowledge/Experience
- 5–8+ years of experience in treasury, finance, or banking operations
- 2–4+ years of experience leading or supervising treasury or finance teams
- Experience in UK insurance, financial services, or regulated industries
- Knowledge of treasury management systems, banking platforms, and financial controls
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of treasury operations and cash management
- Understanding of insurance finance and accounting principles
