Treasury Strategy, Associate Director
If you’re looking to take an exciting new direction with your HSBC career, an internal move can open the door to many opportunities, allowing you to take on a new challenge, and develop your skills. Bring your knowledge of our brand to a new role and grow yourself further.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Treasury Strategy, Associate Director for a 6 month secondment.
This is an opportunity to take immediate ownership of high-priority Treasury work at a pivotal stage of the CRD VI programme. Working across businesses, regions and legal entities, you will connect regulatory change with balance-sheet strategy, financial modelling and senior decision-making, while also contributing to wider Treasury optimisation and the implementation of global booking-model principles. The six-month assignment offers significant visibility and the chance to deliver tangible impact across a complex, global organisation.
A move across the business allows you to continue to access tailored professional development opportunities, and our fantastic benefits packages.
In this role you will:
- Support the Treasury contribution to the CRD VI programme, representing Treasury in working groups and governance forums while maintaining clear actions, dependencies, risks and escalation routes.
- Assess the Treasury implications of client and portfolio transfers across legal entities, including impacts on capital, RWAs, leverage, liquidity, funding, maturity profile and returns.
- Oversee and interpret scenario analysis using approved balance-sheet data, client feedback and transfer assumptions, ensuring assumptions, caveats and limitations are transparent.
- Translate complex regulatory, commercial and financial analysis into concise, decision-ready papers, presentations and recommendations for senior management and governance committees.
- Align business strategy with HBCE and other entity readiness, including capacity, intragroup funding, deposit strategy, management actions and returns considerations.
- Prepare CRD VI baseline assumptions and Treasury inputs for the 2027 FRP cycle, with clear ownership, review and sign-off.
- Support implementation and governance of the Global Booking Model Principles and contribute to wider Treasury strategy, financial modelling and optimisation initiatives.
- Maintain strong model and data controls and deliver a structured end-of-assignment handover covering decisions, assumptions, milestones, risks, models and key stakeholder relationships.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
