Research Trials Biomedical Assistant Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen within the Pathology Department at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital to work as a Research Trials Biomedical Assistant, based in the Blood Sciences department. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
The successful candidate will work with both the Laboratory team and the Research Development Team in the preparation and testing of Trial samples.
Key Requirements
- Previous laboratory experience would be an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be given.
- Good communication and keyboard skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Capability to work independently once fully trained.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform the accurate analysis of samples using automated instrumentation or ‘manual techniques’ and be able to troubleshoot any errors or failures.
- Daily laboratory checks, including: equipment, inventory, and temperatures.
- The use of calibrated pipettes in sample or reagent preparation.
- Undertake appropriate training and gain the necessary knowledge to use various laboratory software in order to:
- Book in test requests,
- Enter test results (where appropriate),
- File completed samples, and
- Monitor outstanding work.
- Communicate effectively, both with colleagues and service users, in order to deal with enquiries and provide results.
