Summary

As one of the Business Domain Architects within Customer, you will be joining a team that covers a broad area, from Loyalty, CRM, Bank, personalisation, online selling platforms, fulfilment & returns, contact centres, and the operation of M&S’s large store estate. You will be one of two Domain Architects in the Online Domain accountable for the target architecture for your domain.

The focus will be fulfilment, reverse logistics, and post-purchase support. You will ensure enterprise and system capabilities are aligned with the needs of your product Domain and enact business-outcome driven enterprise architecture. You will oversee all architecture solutions within the Domain, working closely with solution architects and Principal Engineers. You will build out and own the target strategy for your Domain collaborating with peers and key stakeholders.

What you'll do

  • Own and set the Architecture vision and roadmap for a Business Domain, defining 1–3 year target states, transition plans, standards, and costed roadmaps aligned to enterprise strategy and business outcomes.
  • Lead domain-wide architecture delivery and governance, ensuring solutions align with platform architecture, group standards, security, regulatory requirements, and total cost of ownership ambitions.
  • Act as senior technical advisor and decision-maker, shaping technology and vendor strategy, driving simplification, and leading the shift to a composable, data-centric, event-driven landscape.
  • Inspire, lead, and grow high-performing teams, mentoring architects and engineers, fostering autonomy, and building a strong, collaborative architecture community.
  • Partner across business, product, engineering, and vendors to translate strategy into executable plans, influence outcomes, and deliver measurable improvements in cost, capability, and competitive advantage.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
