TRIBE TEST ENGINEER (TTE)
ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a forward-thinking, experienced Tribe Test Engineer (TTE) who is passionate about quality engineering and delivering high-quality software solutions within an Agile environment.
The Tribe Test Engineer is a transversal leadership role within the Tribe and is responsible for defining, managing, and continuously improving the Tribe's testing strategy and quality approach. Working as part of the Release & Test Orchestration function, the TTE partners with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Tribe Release Engineers, Test Engineers, Automation Engineers, Developers, Architects and Business Stakeholders to ensure that quality is embedded throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
The successful candidate will provide technical and strategic leadership across all testing activities, ensuring consistency, traceability and governance whilst enabling squads to deliver high-quality solutions at pace.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
TEST STRATEGY & QUALITY LEADERSHIP
- Own and maintain the Tribe Test Strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and quality objectives.
- Define and promote best practices for functional, non-functional and automation testing across the Tribe.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing effectiveness, efficiency and predictability.
- Act as the quality authority for Tribe-level initiatives, Epics and Releases.
- Ensure compliance with relevant testing controls, standards and governance requirements.
- Test Transformation – Evolving to agile engineering test practices including the implementation of AI into Test processes
TEST PLANNING & ORCHESTRATION
- Produce an Epic Release & Test Strategy – Approach, Plan & Estimates
- Support Feature Test Owners and Test Engineers in the creation of High-Level Test Strategies, Test Approaches and Test Plans.
- Facilitate cross-squad and cross-tribe testing activities where shared functionality or dependencies exist.
- Coordinate end-to-end testing activities to ensure appropriate coverage across business processes and systems.
- Ensure test data, environments and tooling requirements are identified and available to support delivery timelines.
- Provide guidance on testing estimates, scope and risk assessment.

NON-FUNCTIONAL TESTING
- Define and coordinate the approach for:
- Performance Testing
- Volume Testing
- Resilience Testing
- Recovery Testing
- Security Testing
- Operational Readiness Testing
- Ensure non-functional testing activities are completed and reported appropriately.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and architecture teams to validate platform readiness.
RELEASE & ACCEPTANCE TESTING
- Orchestrate Release Regression & exploratory Testing activities across participating squads.
- Support Release Acceptance Testing activities in collaboration with the Tribe Release Engineer.
- Ensure testing quality gates are clearly defined and adhered to.
- Review entry and exit criteria for all major testing phases.
- Provide recommendations and quality assessments during Go/No-Go decision-making processes.
STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT & REPORTING
- Provide clear and accurate reporting on testing progress, risks, issues, defects and quality metrics.
- Present testing strategies and quality updates to senior stakeholders.
- Escalate risks, defects and delivery concerns appropriately.
- Build strong partnerships across business and technology teams.
COACHING & MENTORING
- Coach and mentor Test Engineers, Feature Test Owners and squad members on testing practices.
- Promote a Quality Engineering mindset throughout the Tribe.
- Support adoption of automation, shift-left testing and continuous testing practices.
- Help develop T-shaped engineering capabilities across squads.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
- Extensive experience in Software Testing and Quality Assurance.
- Proven experience leading testing activities across multiple Agile teams.
- Experience creating and governing enterprise-level Test Strategies.
- Experience coordinating end-to-end testing across complex system landscapes. Experience using AI tools to enhance testing activities with a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement through AI-enabled Quality Engineering practices.
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.
- Experience within Financial Services or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience managing testing risks, dependencies and quality reporting.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum and DevOps delivery models.
- Experience with:
- Azure DevOps (TFS)
- SQL
- Test Automation Frameworks
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates.
- Knowledge of modern application architectures including cloud-native and microservices-based solutions.
CERTIFICATIONS
- ISTQB Advanced Test Manager, Test Analyst or equivalent preferred.
- ISTQB Foundation Certification (mandatory).
- Agile certification beneficial.
