Role Description

This is a full-time, hybrid Trussed Rafter Designer role based in Coventry, with some flexibility for working from home. The Trussed Rafter Designer will produce accurate and efficient trussed rafter designs using specialist software, in accordance with structural requirements, building regulations, and customer specifications. The role involves liaising with internal teams and customers to clarify requirements, resolve design queries, and provide technical advice. The designer will also:

  • Review and check calculations
  • Maintain design documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards

Qualifications

  • Strong technical design skills, including experience with structural or trussed rafter design software and the ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Solid understanding of structural principles, timber engineering, and relevant building regulations or industry standards.
  • Proficiency in basic CAD tools and general IT skills, including working confidently with design and office software.
  • Excellent attention to detail, numeracy, and accuracy in calculations, layouts, and documentation.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant technical qualification (e.g., in civil/structural engineering, construction, or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in timber frame, roof truss, or offsite construction design is beneficial, along with a proactive approach to learning and professional development.
