Trust Doctor in the Department of Neurology
We are inviting applications to fill our vacancy at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in the Department of Neurology. This post is fixed term for 12 months.
Candidate Requirements
- Fully registered with the General Medical Council
- Hold a license to practice by the intended start date
- Achievement of MRCP (UK) is essential
- Minimum of 1 year of NHS experience
Job Summary
This is a whole-time equivalent post for a Trust Doctor in Neurology. This post will be available from September 2026 and is for a period of 12 months. This post will deliver 40 hours supporting the Neurology team. The post-holder will provide support to the Neurology department. There will be opportunities to contribute to the on-call rota. The post will be based at the Leeds General Infirmary.
Applicants should have established skills in general neurology and stroke. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.

The Neurosciences CSU brings together the core services providing the clinical management support for the departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery, Stroke, and Neurophysiology.

- Mr Robin Darby is Head of Nursing.
- Dr Jeremy Cosgrove is the clinical lead for Neurology.
What You Will Bring to the Role
The successful applicant should possess MRCP (or equivalent) and should be able to manage acute medical and common neurological emergencies. You should also have experience working at registrar level.
The successful candidate will be part of a 10 middle grade rota covering ward duties and on-call and will be expected to do both general and sub-specialty outpatient clinics.
Although this is not a training post, there will be plenty of opportunities for learning, able to take part in the departmental and educational meetings. There are also plenty of opportunities to take part in ongoing quality improvement projects and research.
