To provide, in conjunction with consultant colleagues, a comprehensive Sexual Health service across Northumberland and North Tyneside localities.

  • To deliver Genitourinary Medicine, HIV outpatient and Contraception services in keeping with competencies and experience.
  • To work with professional colleagues and local managers to ensure the efficient running of the Sexual Health Service.
  • To share, with other practitioners, the medical contribution to Service management and leadership.
  • To participate in the management of change to ensure a responsive and flexible service and to enable all staff to adapt and contribute fully.
  • To provide advice to GPs and other medical and non-medical staff, internally and externally.
  • To support specialist nurses in the delivery of the nurse-led, service model.
  • To prescribe and issue prescription-only medicines and support nursing staff with the use and development of Patient Group Directions.
  • To contribute to appropriate health promotion and education within the clinic.

To ensure good clinical governance and participate in local audit and quality improvement activity.

  • To contribute to teaching and education in order to improve access to sexual health services.
  • To actively participate in annual appraisal and CPD activities and complete personal CPD programme in accordance with Royal College guidance.
