An opportunity for a 12 month fixed term Trust Grade Doctor (ST3+) in General Surgery

There are 2 dedicated surgical wards, comprising 50 inpatient beds, and surgery also uses a 22 bedded short stay ward. The hospital has 8 inpatient theatres; 4 day surgery theatres, 2 minor operations suites.

Kingston Hospital Department of Surgery has a busy on-call take as well as one of the best laparoscopic Cholecystectomy services nationally.

There is a recent abdominal wall reconstruction (AWR) service developed with a variety of procedures done including an extraperitoneal approach of ventral hernias repair.

In Kingston Hospital we developed a 7-day-per-week service with operating theatre lists running on Saturday in DSU and outpatient clinics and endoscopy running on Saturday and Sunday.

Finally, Medical Education is well developed in our department with opportunities to take part in research and multinational audits present.

Role

  • Participate in delivery of out-patient, diagnostic and inpatient services as directed by consultant
  • Participate in 1:10 on-call rota at Registrar level. All rotas are compliant with EWTD.
  • Participate in ward rounds
  • Undertake other clinical duties as directed by the consultant
  • Attend and perform surgery as required and directed by the consultant
  • Attend and manage out-patient clinics as required
