Company Description
Somewhere to Go Ltd is a charitable organization supporting people who are vulnerable, disadvantaged, or experiencing homelessness in Weston-super-Mare, United Kingdom. Role Description
The Trustee role is a part-time, on-site position based in Weston-super-Mare. Trustees collectively oversee the charity’s strategic direction, governance, and financial sustainability, ensuring activities align with its mission and values. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Attending board meetings
- Reviewing reports and policies
- Contributing to risk management and compliance
- Supporting decision-making on services such as the day centre and charity shop

The role involves working closely with other board members and senior staff to provide effective oversight while respecting operational boundaries.
Qualifications
- Experience or strong interest in charity governance, including understanding of trustee responsibilities, compliance, and safeguarding.
- Financial literacy and the ability to interpret budgets, management accounts, and basic financial reports.
- Skills in strategic planning, problem-solving, and risk management within voluntary, public, or private sectors.
- Strong communication, listening, and teamwork skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and make balanced decisions.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and empathy for people who are vulnerable, disadvantaged, or homeless.
- Availability to attend regular board meetings on-site in Weston-super-Mare and participate in occasional events or sub-committees.
- Previous experience in charity work, social care, housing, health, retail, or community development is beneficial but not essential.
- Basic IT skills (email, document sharing, online meeting tools) and willingness to undertake training relevant to trustee duties.
