Trustee — Lo Presti Institute of Research, Technology and Innovation
Voluntary Board Position | Unpaid, with reasonable expenses reimbursed
The Lo Presti Institute of Research, Technology and Innovation is seeking to appoint a new Trustee to join its Board, bringing academic rigour and research leadership to help guide the charity's strategic direction.
The Institute is a charitable organisation dedicated to advancing knowledge, improving lives and strengthening communities through rigorous research, the responsible application of technology, and practical innovation. We exist to bridge the gap between academic scholarship, technological development and real-world impact — ensuring that new ideas are translated into solutions of genuine benefit to society. Our work is interdisciplinary by design, encouraging collaboration across sectors and borders to promote evidence-based approaches to some of today's most complex social, economic and technological challenges.

As a Trustee, you will join a Board committed to good governance and to safeguarding the Institute's charitable purpose, while helping shape the strategic priorities underpinning our research and innovation activity. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a strong academic and research background — whether from a university, research institute, or comparable setting — who can offer sound judgement, sector insight and genuine commitment to advancing our mission.
What You Will Bring
- A track record of academic and/or research achievement, ideally with experience of funding applications, peer review, or research governance
- Strategic thinking and the ability to contribute constructively to Board-level discussion and decision-making
- A collaborative, interdisciplinary outlook and an interest in the responsible and ethical application of technology
- Sound judgement, integrity, and a commitment to the principles of good charitable governance

What You Will Gain
As a matter of charity law, Trustees cannot be remunerated for their role, though reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in line with our policy. In return, you will have the opportunity to:
- Apply for and access research funding through the Institute
- Publish your own research under the Institute's auspices
- Contribute meaningfully to a growing organisation working at the intersection of research, technology and innovation
- Develop your governance experience and expand your professional network within the academic and charitable sectors
