Help shape the future of mental health and wellbeing
For more than 50 years, The Kaleidoscope Plus Group (KPG) has been transforming lives through high-quality mental health and wellbeing services. Since 1973, we have supported thousands of people to improve their emotional health, build resilience and live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Today, our mission remains simple: to ensure everyone has access to the emotional wellbeing support they need, when they need it. Whether supporting someone in our Residential Home, delivering community mental health services or equipping organisations through our training programmes, we are committed to making a lasting difference.
Based at our headquarters in West Bromwich, our dedicated team of around 70 employees delivers services across the West Midlands and beyond.
As we enter the next phase of our development, we are looking to appoint three exceptional Trustees who share our ambition and want to help shape the future of a well-established and highly respected mental health charity.
Why join our Board?
This is an exciting and important time for KPG.
Like many charities, we are operating in an increasingly challenging funding environment, with significant financial pressures affecting NHS and Local Authority contracts. At the same time, demand for mental health services has never been greater.
Our Board will play a vital role in helping us develop and deliver an ambitious strategy for the next three to six years—ensuring we continue to provide safe, high-quality services while identifying new opportunities for growth, innovation and sustainability.
Although the role is voluntary, it offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping KPG to:
- Deliver safe, effective and person-centred mental health services.
- Strengthen our profile, influence and financial sustainability.
- Support and develop a resilient, high-performing workforce.
- Improve the lives of thousands of people experiencing mental health challenges.
All Trustees receive a comprehensive induction, governance training and Mental Health First Aid training.
About the Board
Our Board is made up of experienced and committed individuals from a wide range of professional backgrounds who provide strategic leadership and oversight for the charity.
The Board meets quarterly, with Trustees also serving on one of two committees:
- Finance, Audit & Risk Committee
- Operations & People Committee
Both committees also meet quarterly.
As a Trustee, you will be passionate about improving mental health and wellbeing and committed to the values, vision and mission of KPG. You will enjoy working collaboratively, think strategically and be confident contributing to robust but constructive discussions that help shape the organisation's future.
Key responsibilities
Working alongside the Chair, fellow Trustees and the Executive Team, Trustees are responsible for the strategic leadership and good governance of the charity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
