I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

What will you be doing?
Scouts have been actively supporting young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society for over 100 years. We, Braid District Scout Council, are looking to appoint new Trustees to join our Board.
Our Board comprises between five and 12 Trustees, the number determined by Council annually. Trustees are all volunteers, with our Board made of a range of ages – 19 to 70+, experience – uniformed and non-uniformed members. We meet as necessary, but normally once a quarter for 1.5 hours. We also join the Council’s annual general meeting. Trustees may join sub committees and will require some personal time for reading of papers, etc.
We are seeking Trustees who are strategic thinkers, collaborative, constructive, and able to act as charity ambassadors. We are keen to broaden the range of skills and experiences which comprises the Board’s makeup.
