Trustee – Digital Strategy
About Us
Sounddelivery Media equips community leaders with lived experience to influence policy and challenge perceptions. As Trustee – Digital Strategy, you will guide our Board in leveraging modern digital tools, storytelling platforms, and smart infrastructure to scale our Spokesperson Network.

You will ensure our charity operates with agile, secure, and modern tools, allowing our team to automate manual tasks and focus on relationship-building and advocacy.
De-risking Digital Investments
Your strategic oversight will give the Board confidence when commissioning new platforms, upgrading systems, or adopting AI and digital tools, ensuring we spend every pound effectively.
What Are We Looking For?
Key Responsibilities
- Board Governance Participate in quarterly Board meetings (and occasional subcommittees), bringing digital insights to strategic decision-making.
- Strategic Leadership Advise on the selection, development, and scaling of digital tools that support our Spokesperson Network and partner programs.
- Ethical & Secure Data Oversight Ensure the organisation maintains high standards of data governance, security, and digital ethics, particularly when handling stories and data from vulnerable communities.
- Digital Culture & Capacity Foster a digital mindset across the Board and staff, helping us spot emerging digital trends (e.g., AI in communications, digital inclusion tools, or new storytelling media).
- Ambassadorship Champion Sounddelivery Media’s mission across your professional networks, helping us connect with digital, tech, or media partners.

What We're Looking For
Digital & Technical Expertise
- Strategic Digital Leadership Experience shaping or delivering digital strategies, product development, user experience (UX), or digital transformation within a business, media, agency, or non-profit environment.
- Modern Tooling & Infrastructure High-level understanding of digital product delivery, web platforms, CRMs, or community-engagement tech.
- Data & Digital Governance Strategic awareness of cybersecurity basics, data protection (GDPR), and the ethical implications of digital media and technology.
Board Capabilities & Mindset
- Governance Perspective Ability to operate at a strategic, board level, guiding, advising, and holding leadership accountable without managing day-to-day operations.
- Inclusive & User-Centred Design A belief in accessibility, inclusion, and creating digital solutions that prioritise the needs of diverse users.
- Constructive Support Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor staff, ask constructive questions, and collaborate respectfully on board decisions.
- Mission & Values Alignment
- Empowering Lived Experience A deep commitment to social justice, equity, and Sounddelivery Media’s vision of putting lived experience voices at the heart of public debate.
- Lived or Sector Insight Experience working with marginalised communities, social justice sectors, or grassroots organisations is highly valued.

Desirable Criteria
- Prior experience as a trustee or non-executive director (first-time trustees with strong professional background are warmly encouraged to apply).
- Understanding of the media, advocacy, or civil society sector landscapes.
- Willingness to dedicate time to quarterly board meetings (remote) and occasional sub-committee work

What Will You Be Doing?
- Guide Digital Vision Work alongside the Board and executive leadership to shape and scrutinise our overarching digital, data, and technology strategy.
- Enhance Platform Accessibility & User Experience Help ensure our digital channels, training tools, and application portals are accessible, friction-free, and inclusive for spokespeople, grassroots partners, and journalists.
- Drive Operational Capability Advise on adopting modern cloud tools, CRM/database management, and automation to help our team work efficiently as we grow.
- Digital Risk & Governance Oversight Bring high-level oversight on data privacy (GDPR), ethical tech use, cyber risks, and digital asset governance (often in partnership with our Audit & Risk considerations).
- Thought Partnership Act as a critical friend and sounding board to our CEO, leadership team, and external suppliers on digital investments, vendor selection, and tech architecture.
