We are seeking a trustee with expertise in education, vulnerable communities and programme development to help ensure our work delivers meaningful and sustainable outcomes for children and young people.
What difference will you make?
Your expertise will help ensure that educational quality remains at the heart of the charity's strategic decisions. By strengthening Board oversight of programmes and supporting their ongoing development, you will help create better learning opportunities and brighter futures for children living in some of Kenya's most disadvantaged communities.

Skills And Experience
We welcome applications from individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas
- Formal education
- Teaching or school leadership
- English as a Second Language (ESL) or English language learning
- Educational development
- Child development
- Work with vulnerable children and communities
- Community engagement
- International development
- Programme design, delivery or evaluation
- Advocacy and stakeholder engagement
Experience of working in, or alongside, African education systems or international education programmes would be particularly valuable.
Previous Trustee Experience Is Desirable But Not Essential.

What will you be doing?
To provide strategic guidance and challenge to the Board on education, programme quality, community impact and the needs of vulnerable children and families. The trustee will help ensure that the charity's activities remain aligned to its mission and are highly considerate of the needs of the communities it serves.
All trustees share collective responsibility for the governance and management of the charity. This role provides specialist expertise and strategic guidance in relation to education, community impact and programme development.
In particular
- Provide strategic advice to the Board on education, learning, child development and the needs of vulnerable children and communities.
- Support the Board in understanding educational needs, opportunities and barriers affecting children and young people in Kenya, ensuring beneficiary and community perspectives remain central to decision-making.
- Offer expertise in formal education systems, English as a Second Language (ESL) learning and educational development to inform the charity's strategic direction.
- Review programme plans, monitoring information and outcomes, providing constructive challenge and advice to help strengthen programme design, delivery, evaluation and long-term impact.
- Support the Board in considering how programmes can improve educational opportunities, inclusion, participation and equitable access for beneficiaries.
- Act as a link between educational expertise and the charity's strategic objectives, contributing to discussions on programme development, sustainability and organisational growth.
- Work collaboratively with trustees, staff and colleagues in Kenya to support the continuous improvement of educational programmes.
- Support the charity's advocacy and awareness-raising activities in the UK, helping communicate the impact of its work to supporters, partners and stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships with educational organisations, community groups and relevant professional networks.
- Champion the charity's mission and values within professional and community settings where appropriate.
- Contribute fully to Board discussions and fulfil the collective responsibilities of a trustee.
