As a Trustee and Board Member, you will have collective responsibility and accountability for ensuring EnergyCloud England transparently complies with its legal, regulatory and financial obligations, operates in accordance with its governing documents and delivers public benefit through its charitable objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion EnergyCloud’s mission across political, governmental, regulatory, energy and housing networks.
• Advise on advocacy, communications and stakeholder engagement strategy in England.
• Help build trusted relationships with national and local government, regulators, energy companies, network operators, housing providers, charities and community organisations.
• Contribute to effective board governance, organisational strategy and national rollout planning.
• Represent EnergyCloud England at events, policy discussions and public forums.
• Support the CEO and Chair in developing advocacy priorities and managing stakeholder relationships.
• Work constructively with fellow Trustees, providing appropriate support and challenge.
• Contribute to financial oversight, risk management and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organisation.
• Support effective risk management and mitigation and protect the reputation of EnergyCloud England.

What We’re Looking For

• Senior experience in public affairs, government relations, stakeholder engagement, strategic communications or a related field.
• The ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and build trusted relationships across sectors.
• Knowledge of, or a strong interest in, the energy system, fuel poverty, housing or sustainability policy.
• Sound judgement, strategic thinking and a collaborative approach.
• A strong commitment to climate action, energy justice and social impact.
• Previous board or advisory experience is desirable but not essential.
• Ability to evaluate information, exercise independent judgement and provide constructive strategic challenges.
• A willingness to act in the best interests of EnergyCloud England and to identify and manage any potential conflicts of interest.
• Commitment to the EnergyCloud Charter and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goals 1, 7, 11 and 13.

Practicalities

• Position type: Voluntary, unpaid Non-Executive Board Member.
• Time commitment: Approx. 10 board meetings per year (virtual/hybrid), plus occasional input on strategy and events.
• Collaboration: Active engagement between Board meetings is expected, working closely with the CEO, Chair and fellow Trustees.
