About Us
We are looking for women who share our values and are passionate about supporting Devon Rape Crisis to deliver its mission.
Our Mission
Devon Rape Crisis began over 25 years ago, aiming to provide specialist support services for victims of rape and sexual assault in Devon. Our mission is to work with victim-survivors of sexual violence to provide safe spaces where they are supported and believed, through advocacy, listening, counseling, and solidarity.
Our Vision
Working towards a world without sexual violence.
Our Values
- Feminist: Treating everyone with respect and offering choice
- Trust: Providing support which is ethical, safe, and of a high quality
- Collaborative: Working in partnership with the community, agencies, survivors, and their support networks
- Inclusive: Working in ways which are accessible and value diversity
- Creative: Adapting to need by recognizing people’s individuality
Impact
From our Impact Report 2024/25:
- 1,684 people supported
- 1,320 volunteer hours
- 7 external training sessions delivered
- 174 learners trained
At the outset of support, 16% of survivors reported ‘never’ feeling positive. Post support, 76% felt positive ‘often’ or ‘all of the time’.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for women who share our values and are passionate about supporting Devon Rape Crisis to deliver its mission.
Following a recent Board skills review, we would particularly welcome applications from women with knowledge, skills, or experience in areas such as marketing and communications, fundraising, volunteer management, digital strategy, and cyber security. We would also welcome women who have strong connections with local organizations supporting survivors, or involvement with national organizations, networks, and policy.
These are not essential requirements and we do not expect individual trustees to have experience across all of these areas. We are looking to build a balanced Board with a broad range of skills, experiences, and perspectives. Applicants should also review the key competencies set out later in this pack.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
